Surviving a natural disaster
Surviving a hurricane, tornado, earthquake, flood, wildfire, or other natural disaster. The destruction, the loss, the displacement, and the way life divided into before and after. Including disasters where you lost your home, your community, your possessions, or people you loved.
A disaster takes the ground itself out from under the idea that home is safe. Rebuilding houses goes faster than rebuilding the feeling that weather, earth, or fire will not come for you again. If storms, sirens, or certain skies still move through your body, that is a normal aftermath, and others here know it well.
Nothing on this page is a diagnosis, and nothing here decides what is wrong with you, because nothing is wrong with you. Something happened to you. This page exists so that when you are ready, you can find people who understand it from the inside.
You do not have to carry this alone.
Bridge of Hope Recovery is a free, anonymous, peer-led fellowship for trauma survivors. Meetings run throughout the week by phone, by video, and in person. No cost, no waitlist, no one asking for your real name.
