Catastrophic events
Experiencing a sudden or catastrophic medical event
A heart attack, stroke, sudden diagnosis, or other medical event that came without warning and threatened your life or fundamentally changed it. The terror of a body that suddenly failed, and the world that looked completely different on the other side of it.
A body that fails without warning breaks a trust most people never know they have. After the heart attack, the stroke, the diagnosis, every ache can feel like a preview and every plan feels provisional. Learning to live in a body that frightened you is slow, real work, and it is easier with people who have had to do it too.
Nothing on this page is a diagnosis, and nothing here decides what is wrong with you, because nothing is wrong with you. Something happened to you. This page exists so that when you are ready, you can find people who understand it from the inside.
You do not have to carry this alone.
Bridge of Hope Recovery is a free, anonymous, peer-led fellowship for trauma survivors. Meetings run throughout the week by phone, by video, and in person. No cost, no waitlist, no one asking for your real name.
