Loss and grief
Losing your home, community, or way of life
Being forced to leave a home, a neighborhood, a country, or a way of life that was central to your identity. Displacement through disaster, economic collapse, immigration, or circumstance. The grief of a place or a life that no longer exists or that you can no longer access.
Losing a place takes more than geography. It takes the language of daily life, the people who knew you without explanation, and the version of yourself that existed there. Displacement grief is real grief, whatever forced the move. Rebuilding somewhere new while mourning somewhere gone is heavy double work, and it earns real respect here.
Nothing on this page is a diagnosis, and nothing here decides what is wrong with you, because nothing is wrong with you. Something happened to you. This page exists so that when you are ready, you can find people who understand it from the inside.
You do not have to carry this alone.
Bridge of Hope Recovery is a free, anonymous, peer-led fellowship for trauma survivors. Meetings run throughout the week by phone, by video, and in person. No cost, no waitlist, no one asking for your real name.
