Loss and grief

Losing a partner or spouse

The death of a romantic partner or spouse. The particular grief of losing the person you built your life around or planned your future with. Including losses that came suddenly and losses that came after long illness.

Losing a partner takes the person and the architecture of your days at the same time. The habits, the plans, the half of every decision. People often expect the acute grief to be the whole of it, but the rebuilding of an entire daily life is its own long labor. Nobody here will ask if you are over it. That question does not get asked in these rooms.

Nothing on this page is a diagnosis, and nothing here decides what is wrong with you, because nothing is wrong with you. Something happened to you. This page exists so that when you are ready, you can find people who understand it from the inside.

You do not have to carry this alone.

Bridge of Hope Recovery is a free, anonymous, peer-led fellowship for trauma survivors. Meetings run throughout the week by phone, by video, and in person. No cost, no waitlist, no one asking for your real name.
