An effect of trauma
Recent grief
Not all grief is stuck or complicated. Some of it is just real and recent and devastating. The loss is fresh. The absence is everywhere. You are not broken, you are bereaved. This is the effect of losing something or someone that mattered, and not being on the other side of it yet. It does not have to be pathological to belong here.
Fresh loss does not need fixing. It needs accompaniment. The casseroles stop, the world moves on, and the mourner is left mid-grief in a culture that allows about two weeks for it. There is no two-week rule here. Come as sad as you are, for as long as it takes, and let that be entirely enough.

If any of those sentences live in your head too, you are in good company here.
Nothing on this page is a diagnosis, and nothing here decides what is wrong with you, because nothing is wrong with you. Something happened to you. This page exists so that when you are ready, you can find people who understand it from the inside.
You do not have to carry this alone.
Bridge of Hope Recovery is a free, anonymous, peer-led fellowship for trauma survivors. Meetings run throughout the week by phone, by video, and in person. No cost, no waitlist, no one asking for your real name.
