Identity-based harm
Being harmed or targeted because of your immigration status or national origin
Being targeted, exploited, or treated as less than because of where you came from or your status in this country. Fear of deportation used as a weapon. Discrimination based on accent, appearance, or origin. The particular vulnerability of navigating systems without full legal protection.
Living under threat of deportation, or being harmed because of where you came from, is fear woven into daily life, into paperwork, and into every knock at the door. That sustained vulnerability is its own trauma, alongside whatever specific harms came with it. Where you were born was never a fault. It was used as one, and that use was the wrong.
Nothing on this page is a diagnosis, and nothing here decides what is wrong with you, because nothing is wrong with you. Something happened to you. This page exists so that when you are ready, you can find people who understand it from the inside.
You do not have to carry this alone.
Bridge of Hope Recovery is a free, anonymous, peer-led fellowship for trauma survivors. Meetings run throughout the week by phone, by video, and in person. No cost, no waitlist, no one asking for your real name.
