Institutional and systemic failure
Being failed or harmed by the legal or justice system
Reporting something and not being believed. Cases that were not pursued. Being treated as a suspect rather than a victim. Sentences that felt unjust. Encounters with the legal system that caused additional harm rather than providing any measure of justice or safety.
Reporting harm and being treated as the problem, or watching a case evaporate, or receiving injustice from the place that advertises justice, compounds the original wound with institutional betrayal. Many survivors stop reporting anything after that. Your distrust was earned honestly. So was your anger, and neither needs defending here.
Nothing on this page is a diagnosis, and nothing here decides what is wrong with you, because nothing is wrong with you. Something happened to you. This page exists so that when you are ready, you can find people who understand it from the inside.
You do not have to carry this alone.
Bridge of Hope Recovery is a free, anonymous, peer-led fellowship for trauma survivors. Meetings run throughout the week by phone, by video, and in person. No cost, no waitlist, no one asking for your real name.
