Physical violence
Growing up in a home where physical violence between others was regular
Watching physical violence happen between people in your home, regularly. A parent hurting another parent. An adult hurting a sibling. Living in a house where violence was part of the atmosphere even when it was not directed at you.
Growing up inside someone else's violence marks you even when the blows never landed on you. Children in violent homes learn to track footsteps, gauge silences, and disappear on cue. If your childhood job was staying invisible while the house shook, you were a victim of that violence too, not a bystander to it.
Nothing on this page is a diagnosis, and nothing here decides what is wrong with you, because nothing is wrong with you. Something happened to you. This page exists so that when you are ready, you can find people who understand it from the inside.
You do not have to carry this alone.
Bridge of Hope Recovery is a free, anonymous, peer-led fellowship for trauma survivors. Meetings run throughout the week by phone, by video, and in person. No cost, no waitlist, no one asking for your real name.
