Neglect
Not receiving medical or dental care you needed
Illnesses, injuries, or conditions that went untreated. Pain that was ignored. Needing a doctor and not being taken to one.
Pain that adults ignored teaches a child that their body's signals do not matter. Many people with this history wait too long to see doctors, downplay symptoms, or feel a strange guilt about needing care at all. Learning to take your own pain seriously is real recovery work, and it is easier alongside people who had to learn it too.
Nothing on this page is a diagnosis, and nothing here decides what is wrong with you, because nothing is wrong with you. Something happened to you. This page exists so that when you are ready, you can find people who understand it from the inside.
You do not have to carry this alone.
Bridge of Hope Recovery is a free, anonymous, peer-led fellowship for trauma survivors. Meetings run throughout the week by phone, by video, and in person. No cost, no waitlist, no one asking for your real name.
