Neglect
Nobody being emotionally present for you as a child
Parents or caregivers who were physically there but emotionally absent. Nobody who asked how you were, noticed when you were struggling, or made you feel like your inner life mattered.
This one is hard to explain to people who did not live it, because from the outside everything looked fine. There was a roof, there were meals, and there was nobody home in the way that mattered. If you grew up talking to a wall that occasionally made dinner, you know how lonely a full house can be, and you will not have to justify that here.
Nothing on this page is a diagnosis, and nothing here decides what is wrong with you, because nothing is wrong with you. Something happened to you. This page exists so that when you are ready, you can find people who understand it from the inside.
You do not have to carry this alone.
Bridge of Hope Recovery is a free, anonymous, peer-led fellowship for trauma survivors. Meetings run throughout the week by phone, by video, and in person. No cost, no waitlist, no one asking for your real name.
