Identity-based harm

Experiencing microaggressions and chronic low level identity based harm

The accumulation of small moments that individually might seem minor but collectively are exhausting and harmful. Comments, assumptions, exclusions, and slights that happen because of who you are. The weight of having to navigate these constantly, often while being told you are overreacting.

Harm that arrives in small, deniable doses is exhausting precisely because each instance can be explained away, while the accumulation cannot. Being told you are overreacting to a pattern only you are forced to track is part of the injury. Here, the pattern is believed. The weight of a thousand small cuts is real weight.

Nothing on this page is a diagnosis, and nothing here decides what is wrong with you, because nothing is wrong with you. Something happened to you. This page exists so that when you are ready, you can find people who understand it from the inside.

You do not have to carry this alone.

Bridge of Hope Recovery is a free, anonymous, peer-led fellowship for trauma survivors. Meetings run throughout the week by phone, by video, and in person. No cost, no waitlist, no one asking for your real name.
