Physical violence

Being physically targeted, bullied, or assaulted by peers repeatedly

Being the one who got physically targeted by peers, over and over. Pushed, hit, jumped, hurt. Not a single incident but a pattern. Learning to dread certain hallways, certain times of day, certain people. Physical bullying that was sustained enough to reorganize how you moved through the world.

Sustained physical bullying rearranges a childhood around avoidance, and adults too often filed it under kids being kids. Dreading the bus, the hallway, the walk home, that was not a phase. It was living under threat during the years you were supposed to be learning the world was safe, and its effects deserve to be taken as seriously as any other violence.

Nothing on this page is a diagnosis, and nothing here decides what is wrong with you, because nothing is wrong with you. Something happened to you. This page exists so that when you are ready, you can find people who understand it from the inside.

You do not have to carry this alone.

Bridge of Hope Recovery is a free, anonymous, peer-led fellowship for trauma survivors. Meetings run throughout the week by phone, by video, and in person. No cost, no waitlist, no one asking for your real name.
